Recap: "Artsy-Fartsy" Stuff

Last Wednesday, I was invited to not ONE but TWO 'art' events: Art Made Large and Arts on Foot Kick-Off.

I was anxious to attend both, which started around the same time, but feared traffic and timing just would not be on my side. Thanks to Metro, I was able to attend both events via the Red Line.

Here's what happened:

The Art Made Large event was a wine reception hosted at B. Smith's. There were fancy finger foods being passed and free-flowing red and white wines and even water (for those who wanted an alcohol-free alternative being poured). Confession: I don't recall seeing anyone with water, including myself. Shame on us! *tsk*

Art Enables gives mentally and physically disabled artists a chance to showcase their passion through art. The artists range in age, gender, race and disability. Despite their various disabilities, their talent shines through.

Here are a few pics.

B. Smith's never disappoints and it was good to meet and greet with fellow art appreciaters, while enjoying a few tasty treats. I look forward to supporting Art Enables in the near future.

As part of DC's Cultural Festival and Downtown DC Business Improvement District (BID), Arts on Foot offers a variety of FREE family-friendly activities (cooking demonstrations, live band performances, art displays, seminars), as well as food, light beverage (wine tastings) and fun.

Everything you need to see is along 7th and F Street, NW in the Gallery Place corridor, so its a good excuse to park your car/take metro/catch a bus or taxi and walk along the art-filled streets. Before you know it, you've burnt off extra calories, went sight-seeing and spent an entire day with loved ones.

Here are just a few pics of the evening.

I was glad to participate in both events. It's good seeing art come alive and well in the Nation's Capitol. I'm looking forward to having a fun-filled "Auntie Day" during next year's event.
