Mock/Cocktails: Emmy Awards

It's that time of year again...

While you're watching the Emmys, be sure to celebrate and raise a toast to these top nominees: Glee (FOX), Mad Men (AMC), 30 Rock (NBC), Lost (ABC), True Blood (HBO) and The Good Wife (CBS).

For the kids, we’ve got a great mock-tail that they can enjoy as they sing along to their favorite Glee episode.

It uses antioxidant rich, acai juice – which really tastes great!

We give this non-alcoholic drink an A+ and round of applause!

For an extra pop, feel free to add in some VeeV, (1 ½ oz) of the world’s first acai spirit!

Regionals Star Sparkler
Created by Jonathan Pogash
3 oz. acai juice
3 oz. sparkling cider
*Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice and stir

In the true spirit of Mad Men, the next drink to try is a Camus Cognac Sidecar, one of the most classic cocktails around! Draper Sidecar

We can thank this 60’s era show for bringing back a serious revival in all things vintage and macho.

*fact check. Yes, Camus was around in the 60’s!

1 1/2 oz Camus VSOP
3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
1/2 oz simple syrup
In true Liz Lemon Style, this is for the lazy drinker. Can’t figure out the way to open up the cocktail shaker? Just looking for a serious sip? Well, look no further!

Xanté pear liqueur is here to take your ‘must see tv’ to a whole new level. The long-time staple in Sweden is here in the U.S. and making a big splash.

Chill a bottle. Pour. And Enjoy. Even Liz could pull this one off!

Chill. Pour. Enjoy.
A squeeze of Liz Lemon (optional)
When celebrating one of the most-talked about series finales (LOST) in recent years, you need a very serious drink.

For that, we’ve got a punch – perfect for entertaining at your house, local pool, deserted island – wherever.

We like this cocktail because it resembles nature – but thankfully, not an island or black smoke.

Flor de Cana Oceana 815
Created by Phil Ward

2 oz. Flor de Caña 7-year old
0.75 oz. rich demerara simple syrup
1 oz. lime juice
6 oz. HOT STRONG Green Tea
1 mint sprig

*All of the ingredients should be combined and left in a container over night
*Strain the next day
*Refrigerate and drink at leisure
*Pour the punch into a glass and garnish with a lime wheel and mint sprig
*Demerara syrup can be made in a pot over low heat on stove top. 2 parts demerara sugar to 1 part water. *Heat and stir until dissolved.
True Blood offers a taste of romance, horror and mysticism – all tucked away in little, pleasant, Bon Temps.

The specialty cocktail for the True Blood fans – like the vamps that they adore - has to be a drink that is mysterious, misunderstood, and little bit naughty.

Enjoy a sip of seduction with the Lucid Bloody Mary – you’ll want to sink your fangs into this one!

Bloody Mary

1 oz. LUCID Absinthe
2 oz. Tomato juice
1 pinch black pepper
1 pinch horseradish sauce
1 dash Tabasco hot sauce
3 dashes Worcestershire sauce
1 dash kosher salt
1/2 oz. fresh lime juice

*Directions: Combine ingredients and marinate for 24 hrs. Then pour over ice into tall glass.
Garnish: Rick’s Picks “Smokra” pickled okra (or any other pickled vegetable)

For The Good Wife, you need a Good Cocktail, and we’ve got some Good Vodka to celebrate this Emmy newbie. Good Wife Mule

Russian Standard vodka is the number one premium vodka in Russia – and they are here to throw the prosecutors off their scent!

As any public figure, rocked with a sex and corruption scandal knows, there’s nothing like a stiff drink to take the edge off. Enjoy Russian Standard Vodka as sipping shot or in a classic cocktail like the Moscow Mule below.

2 oz Russian Standard Vodka
5 oz premium ginger beer
Squeeze in a wedge of Lime

I don't have kids, but the ones that call my "auntie" do enjoy "Big Girl" drinks. Using lemon-lime soda, instead of Vodka, gives them their own little "buzz" -- if you will. They like that the soda bubbles fizzes and tickles their noses.
